EP application vs. DE application --- What's the best patent strategy for Japanese applicants? ---- Recently, EP applications are being criticized as being expensive and more and more applicants are looking at national, in particular DE applications as an alternative. While EP and DE proceedings are similar, there are some important differences that may affect an applicant's filing decision. This seminar focuses on DE practice and highlights the main differences between to EP practice, in particular with regard to: - clarity, - new matter, - unity of invention, - speeding up the application process, - interviews and oral proceedings, - translation issues, - costs. The seminar will also present many tips and tricks on how to prevent pitfalls during EP and DE prosecution and make the application process more efficient. The seminar will be given in Japanese.
